It seems like Cleindl can pick up absolutely any hip hop or R&B track and make it dramatically more interesting. Tokyo, Japan, Cleindl’s hometown, appears to be a breeding ground for progressive electronic producers often characterized by very dreamy futuristic sounds, but no other producer I’ve heard has melded that sound with hip hop and R&B as well as Cleindl. Drake’s whispers are chopped and screwed then arranged overtop of a beautiful collection of organized melodic chaos.
Cleindl’s previous works (all downloadable on his soundcloud) include remixes of Jeremih, Weezy, Ciara, Chris Brown, and Lykke Li, but you can tell that he is gradually finding his sound, and in my opinion, this Drake remix is clearly his best work.
