Lost Boyz – Keep Ridin’ [Throwback Tuesday]

Never to be forgotten is the duo of Mr. Cheeks and Freaky Tah who were a stalwart in underground hip-hop during the 90′s. Who doesn’t remember the classic 1,2,3…thousand problems? Sadly, Freaky Tah was shot down in 1999 and the group never really recovered to remain its prominence after Freaky Tah passed away. Mr. Cheeks did however still continue to make music with his solo albums in ’01 and ’03. It was the gritty vocals that were always missed and without Tah, Mr. Cheeks was just not the same. ‘Keep Ridin’ was the dedication for Tah. The song is taken from the 2005 10th anniversary album, Forever. You can grab the album on itunes.

Sapient – Gunwings

In that short amount of time the duo has amassed a huge following online and also saw them ink a deal with EMI. Breakfast was originally slated to be released on Feb 28th, but in favor of the fans, the duo has released the album a week ahead of the original date. If you remember in 2010 we posted up the Melancholic Jazz Sunset compilation that featured the amazing “Kora” from The Qiwu Selftet from Rennes, France. Economic collapse or not, these Greece musicians refuse to let the art die and push on to give us their debut album, Palace Of Light. Hailing from historical city of Thessaloniki, this trio pumps out worldly music consisting mixtures of trip-hop, reggae, latin and world-beat instrumentation. You can grab this album on US itunes.

Sapient – Glorious Day Redux ft. Luckyiam (single)

On Feb 21st, Sapient will be releasing a free “redux” album that will see him rework songs from his 2010 album ‘Barrels For Feathers”. Sape has re-sung all the choruses and has added new content, so calling this a remix album would not be accurate. Glorious Day is the first single from the free album featuring Luckyiam from the legends. “Gunwings: A Barrels For Feathers Redux” will drop for free on Bandcamp, Feb 21st.
